The Commission and Member States have taken a common EU approach to securing supplies and facilitating their distribution of safe and effective vaccines. The objectives of the EU Vaccines Strategy are to ensure the quality, safety and efficacy of vaccines, to secure timely, equitable and affordable access to vaccines for Member States while also leading the global solidarity effort and enhance future preparedness in EU countries with regard to national vaccination strategies.
As we reach a significant milestone in the fight against COVID-19 – distribution of safe and effective vaccines - the Partnership to Fight Infectious Disease is working to ensure that individuals have the latest information.
Vaccines have conquered disease over time
Wide use of vaccines has helped us virtually eliminate many diseases like whooping cough, polio, measles, rubella, and more.
Vaccines made available to the public are safe and effective
Vaccines are evaluated in clinical trials with thousands of study participants in order to generate enough scientific data to meet the EMA’s strict requirements for safety and effectiveness. After approval, the vaccines will continue to be studied and monitored.
Vaccinating Europe against COVID-19 is the best way to end the pandemic
We must use every tool available to us. Social distancing, mask-wearing, and frequent hand washing are known to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, but these measures alone are not enough. A safe and effective vaccine is a critical step forward to protect ourselves, our loved ones, and our communities.
We want to hear from you about the vaccine rollout.
